PAUL NEWMAN

Paul Newman died yesterday at age 83. It seems that almost all the stars that I grew up with are gone now, and with them, part of my youth .
Now I understand that I never really knew Paul Newman, but for as long as I can remember there's been Paul Newman on the edge of my reality. When I was a child I remember my mother and grandmother gushing over those blue eyes. As I got older I discovered Paul myself. The first time that I saw COOL HAND LUKE, I was mesmerized. He was beautiful and powerful and intense. I remember thinking,"O that's what Mom was talking about" As a young teenager I saw BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. My friends and I argued for months over who was more beautiful, Paul Newman or Robert Redford. But it wasn't until I saw him in ROAD TO PERDITION that i finally realized the talent that lies under all that beauty. He could say so much with just a twitch of a facial muscle....
And let us not forget all of his humanitarian efforts..... I'll miss him. The World will miss him.
To Paul's family and friends I send my prayers and sympathies - and thanks for letting us borrow him for awhile.
Paul - may God richly bless your soul, you did good here. Go rest high upon the mountain...
